Dr Shani Dhanda crowned Disability Power 100 winner
The Shaw Trust held its annual #DisabilityPower100 event in Wembley. They were immensely pleased to be able to bring together the most influential disabled people and disability-led organisations in Britain. The event was attended by over 250 guests, and guests were also able to attend virtually via a Livestream.
Disabled campaigners celebrate ‘bittersweet’ ticket office victory
The government has reversed their policy to close nearly 1,000 rail ticket offices. Transport for All, which played a key part in the campaign to oppose the closures, said it was ‘down to the tenacity of disabled people and our community.’ However, it’s a ‘bittersweet’ victory as further reforms are expected to follow.

More than 135 million people have played Just Dance – but how accessible is it for everyone? Ubisoft’s video game has 500 unique choreographies that users from around the world follow. Seth, 14, from Vale of Glamorgan, was invited to the company’s Paris studio to test out the latest version.
Disabled children’s social care law in England to be reviewed
A review of the law on disabled children’s social care in England has been commenced by the Law Commission on request of the Department for Education. Currently, a patchwork of legislation governs disabled children’s social care law, some of which dates back more than five decades. This has contributed to a variation in the amount and quality of support local authorities provide.
NCB response to King’s Speech
In response to the King’s Speech on 7th November, Phil Anderson, the National Children’s Bureau’s Strategic Director for External Affairs, said: “For 60 years, NCB has worked to amplify the voices of children, young people and their families, convening and collaborating across the sector to ensure those voices are heard at the heart of government so that together we can build better childhoods for every child.”
