Living with microtia – Jasper’s story
When Jasper Hayes was born in April 2007 by emergency Cesarean, a midwife popped into the ward to tell his mum Emma ‘Your son’s OK but he’s missing an ear’. Often paired with other conditions, microtia is a malformation of the external part of the ear or pinna. Emma from Nottingham tells us her story.
Scope seeks runners’ opinions
The disability equality charity, Scope is developing a new, inclusive running event. It is looking for people to share their views via a survey to help it to shape the event. It is keen to hear from disabled people of varying activity levels, as well as non-disabled people who have a connection to disability. Respondents will be compensated for their time. Boost for hospital Changing Places
The Government has committed to giving half a million pounds to expand the number of Changing Places in hospitals across the UK. The initial funds will enable 15 new Changing Places to be built. Caroline Dinenage, Minister for Care has said a further £1.5 million will be available to bid for, and has called for new build hospitals to have Changing Places built into them. 40 new hospitals are planned.
