Clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) children are removed from the shielding list

The Department for Health & Social Care and the Department for Education has made a decision regarding children who were previously advised to shield that they no longer need to. The results of recent clinical studies have been discussed by a panel of experts who have recommended that children and young people should no longer be considered clinically extremely vulnerable and therefore should not stay on the Shielded Patient List.

The ‘Passenger Assistance’ app

The ‘Passenger Assistance’ app, developed with train operators, will offer passengers the choice to request assistance, update their profile and review their journeys from anywhere using their smartphone, a first for public transport anywhere in Great Britain. This can speed up assistance bookings and give customers greater confidence on their journeys as they can instantly amend accessibility requirements on their profile via the app.

Every year the Freshers’ Fairs see thousands of students coming to find out about support services available, grab promotional materials, speak to local businesses and sign up to Clubs and Societies.

  • Wednesday 22nd September at Broomfield Hall nr Morley, Ilkeston
  • Thursday 23rd September at Joseph Wright Centre in Derby City

All Freshers’ Fairs run from 10.00am until 2.00pm.

What to do if your eligible child hasn’t been invited for a Covid vaccine yet?

Vulnerable children aged 12-15 eligible for a Covid vaccine should have received an invitation for their first appointment by Monday 23 August. NHS England has asked local health networks to ensure clinically vulnerable children are vaccinated before school starts in September. But as the deadline for receiving invitations passed, many parents had still heard nothing, while many others reported being told incorrect information by vaccination centres.
