A new approach to area SEND inspections

Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission want your views on proposed changes to the way they jointly inspect area SEND arrangements from 2023. Closing date Sunday 11 September.

Have you applied for travel assistance for September 2022?

Home to School Travel Service is waiting on a large number of applications for travel assistance, which they must receive in order to have arrangements in place for September. You must apply for Home to School Travel Assistance if:

  • Your child is moving from yr2 (an infant school) to yr3 (junior school) Note: You do not need to apply if your child attends a primary school
  • Your child is moving from yr6 to yr7
  • Your child is moving from yr11 to yr12 (post 16)
  • Your child is already post-16
  • Your child is changing school
  • You have moved home address

If you have not already applied, you must do so as soon as possible, to ensure that travel assistance arrangements are in place for the beginning of the autumn term. Please download the form.

Less than 20 questions on disability asked at PMQs

MPs have asked the prime minister fewer than 20 questions on subjects focused on disabled people and their rights in the last 18 months of prime minister’s questions (PMQs), Disability News Service (DNS) can reveal. Analysis of the questions asked in the last 50 PMQs, dating back to December 2020, show that roughly between one and 1.5% of the questions were aimed at seeking answers on issues such as disability discrimination and rights and social care.
