It is now the third consecutive week that Disability News Service (DNS) has attempted to secure information from the government, public bodies and the energy industry about what preparations have been made to protect disabled people in the event of three-hour blackouts this winter.
New trolling law to be named after Zach Eagling after online epilepsy bullying
An 11-year-old from West Yorkshire who was targeted by internet bullies is set to make history with a new law in his name which could see trolls jailed for up to five years. Zach Eagling, from Liversedge, has autism and cerebral palsy but defied his conditions to walk 130 laps of his garden for charity two years ago. After the challenge, he was targeted by hundreds of bullies online.
Children’s social care framework
The Department for Education (DfE) has published a best practice framework for children’s care social practice systems in England. The framework, which is based on an evaluation of the Children’s social care innovation programme, is for the children’s social care sector, social workers, and local authorities. It sets out the seven key features shared by successful projects, including using a clear, strengths-based practice framework and having a whole family focus. It also identifies the outcomes and enablers associated with these features.
