Life with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) will be at the centre of a new storytelling project by actor Kellie Bright. The Eastenders actor is inviting families, children and professionals to tell her anonymously about their experiences.

Tressa Burke, founding chief executive of the disabled people’s organisation Glasgow Disability Alliance, received a letter from the UK government on the day of the budget, 26 November, telling her she would be awarded an MBE in the new year honours for services to disabled people. Tens of thousands of children in England have spent more than a year waiting for NHS community care such as hearing services, speech and language therapy and disability support, the BBC has found.
