How have disabled people been staying active during the coronavirus pandemic?

Disability Rights UK has been working together with Sense and Durham University to find out how disabled people have been staying active during the coronavirus pandemic, and to find out what resources can help to stay active at home during this second wave. They have co-produced pre-recorded videos using the experiences and feedback of disabled people and people with long term health conditions.

Contact’s new workshops

If you want to know more about how to get the right support in school for your child with additional needs then Contact’s new workshops could be just what you’re looking for. The first new workshop is for parents with younger children who want to find out about what educational support is available in Early Years settings like pre-schools and nurseries. Their second workshop focusing on education is aimed at parents with older school age who have additional needs.

Profoundly deaf maths teacher wins award

A profoundly deaf maths teacher has won a national teaching award, being recognised for her outstanding performance with a class of hearing children. Alysha Allen teaches at Brimsdown Primary School in Enfield.

Childline’s Nobody is Normal Campaign

Childline has launched a new campaign, Nobody is Normal which aims to help children understand that lacking confidence, feeling not good enough or that you don’t fit in, is a shared experience. Figures also show that the monthly average number of Childline counselling sessions about eating and body image disorders increased by 32% on the pre-lockdown average; and the monthly average number of sessions about sexuality and gender identity increased by 16% compared with the pre-lockdown average.
