Changes to ‘mental disorder’ classification

Autism and learning disability will no longer be considered “mental disorders” or a justification for detaining people under the government’s draft Mental Health Bill. The bill includes major reforms to how autistic people or those with a learning disability are treated in law in England and Wales.
